As Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) concludes arrangement to pick its governorship candidate for February 28, 2015 governorship election in the next few days, a group of human rights activists in the state under the aegis of Save Lagos Group(SLG) has urged both the national and state leadership of the party including the elders to ensure that the immediate past minister of state for defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is nominated to contest the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
The group also urged President Goodluck Jonathan, national chairman of the PDP , Alhaji Adamu Muazu and leaders of the party in Lagos State, Chief Olabode George to prevail on other aspirants to allow Senator Obanikiro to be the candidate of the party through harmonious resolution among the aspirants in such a way that it would not cause rancour and disaffection within the party in the state.
SLG gave reasons for urging the party in Lagos State to field Obanikoro as its governorship candidate, in a statement by its convener, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman and made available to newsmen in Lagos State yesterday. It stated that it was also due to his (Obanikoro’s) political experience, sagacity, courageous and acceptability.
