Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has ordered the restoration of all privileges due to the former fovernor of the state, Olusegun Oni which were shalted by the immediate past administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
A statement by the chief press secretary nto the governor, Mr. Idowu Adelusi in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, said the step was taken by Fayose in appreciation of the contributions of past leaders to the development of the state.
According to him, “Governor Fayose is restoring all the privileges of former Governor Segun Oni. His portrait among those who have led the state that was removed from the Governor’s Office by former governor Kayode Fayemi has been returned.
“All those who served with him and whose portraits and other souvenirs were removed by the past administration such as former chief press secretaries among others, have been returned.
“It was the Fayemi administration that even stopped their financial entitlements when it made the House of Assembly to pass a bill that Oni and Fayose were not due for such.
“The excuse they gave was that Fayose did not complete his tenure and Oni’s tenure was unknown to law because the court removed him from office.
“The Fayose administration appreciates the contributions of those who have led the state in the past and would not in any way rubbish such. We are ready to acknowledge all and would not because of political differences rubbish what people have done in the past,” the statement added.
It added that the governor was committed to providing a leadership that would accord the elder statesmen their deserved respect.
