In a concert championing
the best international musical talent, past and present, the artistically
impeccable T’ang Quartet will perform alongside internationally renowned
pianist Melvyn Tan, as part of the Festival’s celebration of the arts produced
in Singapore.
The T'ang Quartet and Melvyn Tan will reinterpret a classical
repertoire for contemporary fans, while appealing to traditional audiences, as
Eastern and Western musical prodigy are seamlessly and artfully blended.
When the indomitable
combined force of the T’ang Quartet and Melvyn Tan took on Brahms’ Piano
Quintet early in 2014, the Straits Times said: “With pianist and string players
of one mind, the performance was an intensely musical one. The balance of sound
was close to ideal, with the work’s understated instrumental virtuosity firmly
placed to one side”.
Witness as the colourful
and lively programme, including Dvořák’s Piano Quintet, is performed with
trademark aplomb by these five classical heavyweights in the splendour of one
of the City of London’s finest ancient livery halls, Merchant Taylors’ Hall.
This concert is just a taste of the great
events we have coming up this Summer. Our full Festival programme of over 160
events will go on sale in April.
