As the internal crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepens, the suspended Adamawa state chairman of the party Chief Joel Madaki has yesterday dared the national leadership of the party over his suspension saying that the Exco still remains in office and their suspension remains null and void.
Madaki, who made the statement during a meeting he convoked with his supporters and some party chieftains in Yola insisted that he and the suspended Secretary of the party, Barr. A T Shehu are still in charge of the affairs of the party as he has not received any formal communication in respect of sacking of his led exco.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party had ast week suspended Madaki and Shehu, over allegations of indiscipline and undermining the national leadership of the party.
While maintaining his leadership of the party, Madaki told the party stakeholders that attended the meeting which consist of some party executives at the state and local government levels, that he is only recognises the power of the party’s members in the state in deciding his status, saying no other person or group can kick him out of office.
He also assured the people whose names have been published as delegates by the state chapter of the party under his leadership that they will be the ones to participate in the primaries, as he urged them to kick against any delegate list that will be brought from the National Secretariat of the party.
According him, his leadership of the party will overcome what he called machinations of some party leaders in Abuja, “in spite of the intimidations”.
In the wake of the sack of the Madaki led exco, the NWC of the party said took the action it took was sequel to Madaki’s unauthorized compilation and publication of purported delegates list contrary to the provision of the party’s constitution.
