Members of the women wing, All Progressives
Congress, Ondo State chapter, took to the streets of Akure on Tuesday to protest
the continued stay of Chibok schoolgirls in the captivity of the terrorist
group, Boko Haram.
The protest, which hampered vehicular movement in the city, started with a procession from the Adegbemile centre through Oba Adesida-Oyemekun Road to Ilesa Garage.
The protesters, who dressed in red uniforms and head gears, carried placards with various inscriptions and chanted solidarity songs.
The APC women numbering over 1,000, were led by Mrs. Kehinde Adeniran and a former Action Congress of Nigeria women leader, Mrs. Modupe Akindele-Johnson.
They made a brief stop at the new APC secretariat, Akure, where they expressed their grievances on the development before the State Chairman, Isaac Kekemeke.
The women prayed in different languages for quick release of the schoolgirls.
Mrs. Adeniran said, “We came as mothers with bitterness and anger, we are feeling the pains of missing these innocent young girls in their respective homes in the past six months.
“We were deceived by the Federal Government that the abducted girls would be released last Monday, but as at now, there is no inkling of their whereabouts.”
