R&B
singer, Banky W, has aired his opinion on the recent advert slogan in the
President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election poster, which was done by a group.
Abuja has been flooded with the ‘#Bring Back Jonathan 2015’ posters and
billboards lately.
The singer fumed at the choice of the slogan for the campaign and described it as “shameful.”
The BringBackJonathanin2015 is a parody of the BringBackOurGirls campaign launched after Boko Haram members kidnapped some secondary schoolgirls in Borno and are yet to be released by the group despite worldwide outcry.
An angry Banky W wrote online, “freedom to post whatever he like and I agree it’s shameful.”
Many others have also slammed the slogan and called it insensitive.
But the Presidency has ordered the removal of the billboards and posters from the street. The Presidency, through its spokesman, Reuben Abati, said, “While President Jonathan appreciates the enthusiastic show of support for his administration by a broad range of stakeholders, he condemns the #Bring Back Jonathan 2015 signs which appear to make light of the very serious national and global concern for the abducted Chibok girls,”
